The Best Burger Barn was created in May 2009 in Cleburne (Egan), Texas by Byron Rose. Sitting in his circular driveway in a lawn chair with a WalMart fryer, a backyard grill, and a cooler of drinks (yeah, beer too!), Byron started serving the best burgers in Texas! Over the course of a couple of years, the “burger word” spread far and wide. Assisted by his friends and the community, a building was put up and the restaurant became a roadhouse serving the fresh original recipe burgers and expanding into fresh catfish and chicken.

De Cordova Bend Park is located at 7620 Rainey Court. It’s secluded location is off Fall Creek Hwy near the front gate of Pecan Plantation, on the very southeast end of Lake Granbury near the dam. This park and campground has a boat ramp, fishing pier, and restrooms. Camping is free of charge all year and on a first come – first serve basis. All campsites are considered primitive as there are no defined campsites and no water and electric at any site.

Bring your bathing suit and a picnic to enjoy a fun afternoon with your family.

This State Historic Site is Texas’ smallest state park and is located within Hood County. The total acreage of the state park is .01. The Park is the burial site of Elizabeth Crockett, second wife of Davy Crockett, who married him in Tennessee in 1815. Since Crockett fought for Texas and died at the Alamo, his heirs were eligible for a land grant. The Monument was erected at Acton Cemetery, 3629 Fall Creek Hwy, Granbury, TX, by Legislative appropriation in 1911. In 1949, legislation moved control of the site to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The grave site of Elizabeth Crockett is located near the center of the Cemetery which surrounds the Park.

The DeCordova Bend Estate/Acton Volunteer Department (DCBE/VFD) was chartered and formed in April 1979. There were 25 people that became charter members. Jack Wilkerson served as the Fire Chief, Steve Gaston, the Assistant Chief and Bill Quinn as the Fire Marshall. The first 26 years of operations were conducted out of the converted Maintenance building inside the front gate of De Cordova Bend Estates.
